With God You Can..

Happy New Year

“Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can.”

‘The best of it is, God is with us.”

– John Wesley

Poured Out

“I am poured out like water, … all my bones are out of joint.

My heart has turned to wax; it has melted within me.”

“Trust in Him at all times; …

Pour out your heart before Him:

God is a refuge for us.”

Selah.

Psalm 22:14 and 62:8

Like Jabez

The bible says that Jabez, a descendant of Judah, was “more honorable than his brothers”and even though his mother named him Jabez (which means pain), he called out to the LORD and God heard him and gave him what he requested.

This is not a story about getting everything we want, it’s actually an example that there’s always hope when we pray because no matter what we’ve been through, or what we’ve been called, as children of God, we have His eye.

Jabez may not be as well known as Abraham or Moses but that’s just the point!  God’s love is there for the “little guys”too and the story of Jabez  reminds us that in Christ, each of us is special and uniquely significant. He cares for us and will answer when we pray.

“Jabez  called out to the God of Israel, saying,

“If only You would greatly bless me, and enlarge my territory. Let Your hand be with me,

and keep me from harm, so that I might not suffer pain.”

And God granted what he asked.”

 I Chronicles 4:10-TLV

A Time of Reckoning

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time, are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18

To reckon, is to establish by counting or calculation, and today, as I struggle with  pain and limitations as I recover from surgery, I am reminded that, in calculating the number of difficulties and painful events that have occurred in my life, I am encouraged and inspired to think of what God has in store for those who love Him, those who are called according to his purpose. Paul, in reckoning all of his pain and suffering, just lays it out there for us in II Corinthians 11:24-27; “… five times received I forty stripes save one. I was beaten three times with rods, stoned once, three times I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by my own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, (that’s me today, lol ), in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.”

I don’t suppose that many of us can say that we’ve suffered to this extent, and I’m in no way trying to belittle anyone else’s experience, yet Paul kept moving forward and I’m so glad that he did because during these tremendous hardships, He wrote most of the epistles of the New Testament. Most of them from prison. In light of all of this, and considering the hardships that we may be facing, we too can reckon that none of it compares to the glory that shall be revealed in us, as we, like Paul, keep moving forward and looking up…

Your Red Sea Too Will Part

One day, your Red Sea will part,
and you will walk right thru
one day, you will see God’s plan
and all He has in store for you.

One day, He will lead you out,
and you’ll be in the promised land
one day, you’ll come to understand
your times have been in His hand.

One day, He will send His light,
and you’ll see His mighty power
one day, you’ll know He has been
with you in your darkest hour.

One day, He will rescue you,
and you’ll be free at last . . .
one day, you will praise Him
for the things He brought to pass.

One day, He will send His manna,
and you will be filled with peace
one day, your Red Sea too will part
and your joy will never cease.

One day, you will look back,
and tell of your wilderness story
one day, you will be thankful
and you’ll give God all the glory!

Isaiah 43:19
King James Version

“Behold, I will do a new thing;
now it shall spring forth;
shall ye not know it?
I will even make a way in the wilderness,
and rivers in the desert.
