Waiting on God

“Truly my soul waits upon God: from Him¬†comes¬†my salvation.

He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.

They only consult to cast Him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him.

He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defence; I shall not be moved.

In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

Also unto thee, O Lord,¬†belongeth¬†mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.”

Psalm 62

Temple Cleansed

“Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost¬†which is¬†in you, which ye have of God,

… For ye are bought with a price…”

Corinthians 6:19-20a

Once we commit our lives to Christ, our bodies become the temple of the Holy Spirit.

David prayed in Psalm 51 saying, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”¬†He asked the LORD to come in, and cleanse his “temple”, and then, he asked the LORD to renew a right spirit within him.

This week is holy week, and as I remember the events leading up to the crucifixion, I reflect on how Christ “cleansed the temple”, and how, because of His sacrafice, and by His blood, I too have been made clean, and by His Holy Spirit, a right spirit is renewed within me.

Thank You, Lord Jesus.

Bless the Lord O My Soul

“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me,¬†bless¬†his holy name.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;Who healeth all thy diseases;

Who redeems thy life from destruction;

   Who crowns thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Who satisfies thy mouth with good¬†things; so that¬†thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

“Bless the Lord O my soul. “

Psalm 103:1-5, 22

From the Beginning

“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knows right well.

My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God!

How great is the sum of them!”

Psalm 139:13-17

If It Had Not Been…

“If¬†it had¬†not¬†been¬†the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

Our help¬†is¬†in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”

Psalm 124
