Smokin’ Hot

They say, “Where there’s smoke there’s fire”, so is it also true that where there’s fire there’s smoke?” Not according to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. It says in Daniel 3:20-24  that when they were thrown into the fiery furnace, the king saw four men walking in the fire, and the fourth looked  like the Son of God, and when he called them out of the fire, they were completely untouched by the flames, and then, to top it all off,  their clothes didn’t even smell like smoke. Now, that’s amazing!! You can’t even start coals for a barbecue, without smelling like smoke!  Verse 24 says that” the fire had no power over them!”Our God Is AWESOME!! This story is a  fire-bright, blatant example, of how God is with us “in the fire“, these fiery trials have no power over us, and when it’s over, we won’t even smell like smoke! Now that’s Hot!

  1. :) I love this example of God’s supernatural abilities. My son just learned about this in his discipleship class last week and I think it resonated with him. I’m glad you shared it here as well. We serve an awesome God!

  2. Yes we do! And I like what you mentioned about your son! I actually got the idea for this post, from a conversation with my daughter on the way to school one morning!! We got so excited about the story, that I said, “I’ve got to write about this on my blog!” and she enjoyed the story so much, that she said she was going to share it with her friends at school. In fact, she has started a little bible club at recess! It’s such a blessing to see our children getting excited about God, and His Word! They are truly becoming young disciples. Thanks for sharing. :)

  3. I absolutely love this chapter in Daniel, especially when the brothers say, “ If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” That is some faith!!!

    Great post!
